Some student reflections take trust and courage to share. Vulnerable reflections indicate that a student has shared deeply personal aspects of a significant life experience, relationship, challenge, or part of who they are. These reflections represent the highest level of Sown To Grow’s self-disclosure rubric and may describe experiences that are difficult, joyful, or somewhere in between.

‍

Teachers will now see vulnerable student reflections highlighted in purple and marked with a purple “Vulnerable” tag. You can easily find these reflections by using the “Vulnerable” filter within the student check-ins page.

‍

We encourage teachers to prioritize vulnerable reflections and consider personalizing their response to acknowledge the student’s experience and help strengthen trust and connection.

‍

Additionally, when a student writes a vulnerable reflection for the first time, their teacher will see a new highlight in their classroom. Class highlights are found on the right side of the classroom home page.

‍

As with last year, teachers will continue to receive email notifications when they have unread vulnerable reflections.

‍

These updates are designed to help teachers recognize moments when students are sharing something meaningful—and make it easier to respond in a way that helps students feel seen, heard, and supported.
